The walk
What is this walk like?
Two bases, one change. You spend four nights in Vila Nova de Milfontes, on the Mira estuary, and four in Vila do Bispo, close to Cabo de São Vicente. Each morning the group is driven to the start of the walk and collected at the end. On the day you change base, your luggage goes ahead by van.
The walks run from about 9 to 19 km, on stages graded from moderate to difficult, and your guide talks through each day before you set off. The longest day, Zambujeira do Mar to Odeceixe, can become a free day in Milfontes if the group prefers. Groups are kept to a maximum of 12, so the guide has time for everyone. It runs for private groups, on request: tell us your dates and group size, and we will check availability and send you a quote. Accommodation is in small hotels and guesthouses, with breakfast daily and several dinners included.

Is this walk right for you?
This is a guided programme with full walking days, of about 9 to 19 km. Two of the stages are graded difficult, one somewhat difficult and one moderate. The longest day, 18.7 km, can be swapped for a free day in Milfontes. It suits people who walk regularly and are used to several hours on foot, several days in a row. Your guide sets the pace and talks through each day before you start. Groups are kept to a maximum of 12. The Fishermen's Trail runs high and close to the cliff edge on every section. It is not recommended if you suffer from vertigo or a fear of heights, and children need close supervision. The inland Historical Way is the alternative.
