The walk
What is this walk like?
This tour pairs Lisbon with the Atlantic coast on its doorstep. Over nine days, a local guide leads you through the city and its riverfront at Belém, out to the palaces and forest of Sintra and the cliffs at Cabo da Roca, across the Tagus to Azeitão and Arrábida Natural Park, and north to the surf village of Ericeira, with coastal walks between Azenhas do Mar, Magoito and Praia de São Julião.
The days are varied rather than long: walks through Lisbon's old quarters, a riverside stretch along the Tagus, and coastal cliff paths on the west coast, broken up by town visits, a winery and tile workshop in Azeitão and a boat trip. Groups are kept to a maximum of 12, so the pace stays relaxed. Accommodation is in small hotels and guesthouses, with breakfast daily and several dinners included.

Is this walk right for you?
This is a moderate guided tour rather than a long-distance trek. The days are varied: some are spent walking in Lisbon, others on coastal stages of roughly 6 to 12 km, with short climbs of around 100 to 200 m and several days broken up by town visits, a winery and a boat trip. The ground is mostly easy, on city pavements, forest tracks and coastal paths. If you walk regularly, you will be comfortable. Groups are kept to a maximum of 12.
